I also developed a new identity for EMMS

I won the pitch to develop the new site for the East Midlands Museums Service. They needed something that was easy to update, was more visual than their old site, but would still be attractive if images weren’t available. Aiming for a clean but not cold style, the site holds a raft of complex features under a simple interface; built on the excellent Expression Engine CMS, the site features a range of custom-made extensions. The events section gives EMMS a lot of flexibility to add as much or little info as they wish, including an automatically generated Google map and enabling users to quickly add the event to their desktop or online calendars at the click of a button.

Accessibility was a very important consideration, and aside from clean, well structured code we’ve also included a text resizer and a high-contrast version for visually impaired users.

It’s been great seeing how quickly the EMMS team have embraced using the site and already there’s lots of really useful information and events stored on the site - it just keeps getting better as it grows!
