Tim in his studio

I’m a Brighton-based designer working primarily with cultural organisations and artists, spanning a range of scales and budgets.

A creative, friendly and inclusive approach is at the core of every project, working closely with clients to produce innovative work that engages audiences and goes beyond expectation.

Online services

I design websites that are both beautiful and a pleasure to use. I’m excited by new technologies and keep on the edge of the latest developments while ensuring that sites stay accessible, meet W3C standards and play nicely with screen readers for visually impaired users. For me, accessibility covers other areas, too: sites are structured so that all sections (including admin sections) are intuitive to use, and I avoid jargon when working with clients - just because the site is innovative doesn’t mean it has to sound incomprehensible!

All technical development is carried out in-house. I’ve experience of programming a number of bespoke, scalable content management systems (CMS) and also developing sites with creative use of Wordpress and ExpressionEngine, coding new plugins where necessary and embedding content from external sites using RSS and XML.

All sites are built with easy-to-use monitoring tools so you can keep an eye on how your website is performing, and I use best practices for search engine optimisation.

I can also advise on digital marketing campaigns and set up rich and effective e-newsletters.

Systems I tend to use include:
PHP, Codeigniter framework, customising Wordpress, ExpressionEngine, Javascript (JQuery), CSS, XHTML, Flash, Actionscript

Print

Wherever possible, I use high quality, ecological (yet economical) materials using local printers.

Most forms of print work undertaken: stationery, newsletters, leaflets, posters, catalogues, exhibition stands, reports.
