Recently, I’ve been working hard on a new website for Emerge - a visual arts initiative for emerging artists in north and west London (Barnet, Brent, Enfield, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Waltham Forest and Westminster). The project supports artists’ networks and professional development, so the site needed to be a platform to help artists collaborate on projects. It’s all about getting things done!

Built with a custom content management system, the site features a members’ projects section where artists can add posts and comments about how a project is progressing, along with a little thermometer to quickly show how things are coming along. There’s also a general ‘help’ section where members can make pleas for advice and favours. Emerge will be running a series of events in the near future, so there’s also an easy-to-use booking system where members can reserve their places and pay online using Paypal. The event page also shows who’s attending, hopefully encouraging others to come along.

The site’s currently online as part of a soft launch, but you can get a sneak preview at http://www.emergelondon.org.uk

Emerge will be fully rolled out in September.
